Stamp Press Pink Trees...

Happy Saturday,

What better to cheer us all up on a Sunday than a row of cherry blossom filled trees?  I have cheated on this card as the cherry blossom appearance is made with a leaves stamp and inks but it does suggest trees in full bloom to me!

I have added the video which shows the basic technique for this card as part of the Press to Impress Facebook Live I filmed yesterday at Inspirations in Preston.  If you click the link HERE it will show you the video.  I will try to add this youtube as soon as possible but its a little tricky! lol

It was a fabulous 2 days and Thank you to everyone who attendee I'm sorry the stock didn't last longer!  I will let everyone know as soon as the Media Plates and Masks are back in stock promise!

I stamped the trees in a row as shown in the attached video.  I then used thermal leaves stamp included in the winter trees set and stamped leaves over the tress in Raspberry, Walnut and Tea Izink die ink pads.

Sunrise in Brown...

Happy Friday,

I wam doing a Facebook live video today between 9am and 10am all about the Press to Impress stamping platform to share some of the unique features of this prior to its launch on Hochanda on the 8th August  I will try to post the video on my blog tomorrow for my blog family that aren't on Facebook!

Another sample from this weeks shows using the Media Plates ( I promise we will bring these back as soon as possible) this time what looks like a more complex card but again with the system really easy to reproduce!

I started by adding the circular media plate too my Press to Impress temp platform and added the Izink inks in walnut, honey and dawn in stripes across the plate.  I then ran my brayer across the surface to make an ombre effect which suggest a sunset.  Next I used the new small blending tool form crafts too and added more of the walnut to the top edge of the circle and the honey at the base, stamped it,  to give the circle a 3D appearance.

I then added the wheat style clear stamp form the spring stamp set onto an acrylic block and using the walnut ink I stamped this around the base of the circular media plate and stamped this.  This adds the shadows in the circle which, because I stamped it onto the media plate the shadow finishes perfectly at the edge of the circle.

I then added the wheat stamp onto the stamp press and inking with the honey stamped this repeatedly, by sliding the card within the stamp press, across the bottom of the card.  This is one of the reasons I love the press to impress board as It has an open side and bottom means I can use any size of card as well as slide card in the press to repeat a stamp perfectly!

To make up the card I simply cut the piece into a 6 x 6" square and then into 3 2" strips.  I mounted these in a chestneu card and spaced them evenly, with a 1/4" gap across the front of the card.  I made up the card with a long strip of the powder puff style embossing folder ( again form Crafts too and on this weeks shows)  Repeating the pattern by embossing twice as these folders are designed to repeat as much as you need and I love flexibility almost as much as value!

The card is finished with an 8x8" card blank in white *( hand made from Limetree A3 warm white card)

in the pink with magic...

Happy Thursday,

Today and tomorrow I am at Inspirations in Preston demonstrating my new range and Christmas craft dies by Creative Expressions so pop along if you want to see what I will be doing!  They should have stock of the new range so it's a good chance to get the products that seem to be selling out so fast!

Today I thought I would share a card that is made using the magic stamps and my spring collection of stamps.

I stared by heating the magic stamp with my heat gun then I pressed the stamp into the Crafts Too rose embossing folder ( Part of the set on this weeks Hochanda shows) this made a large rose stamp.  I then randomly stamped this over a piece of white card  (8x8") using the rose, grenadine and ultramarine izink die ink pads.  It does have a look at an early 1980's wallpaper to me!  Next I cut a smaller block form the main piece and again heated and pressed this into the embossing folder this tine selecting a single rose.  This i stamped, using the same colours, over the top to give a more defined rose pattern.

I cut this piece into a square for the backing and a strip for the side of the card and backed these in deep blue card from my stash.  Next I stamped, using my press to impress of course!, the open flower spray from the Spring flowers clear stamp set onto more of the white card.  I coloured and shaded this using the Clear Colour watercolour brush pens and using a water brush pulled out the colour to add the shading.

I matted this on blue and added a pale blue bow to bring the ultramarine colour to the front and finished!

I have been asked loads of questions about the press to impress stamp platform so I am planning a short Facebook live video for Friday morning explaining the way it works and the differences between the other platforms on the market ( you know me I like to explain what something is my favourite!)

Trees in the mist

Happy Wednesday,

Firstly thank you al Sooooooo much for the wonderful support yesterday and through this period of change to me new John Next Door brand.  The shows yesterday were so busy I hardly had time ti think trying to get more stock between shows so I didn't disappoint anyone!

I know I have said it before but I want to reiterate that none of this would be possible without those of my blog family who visit, whether you comment or not, every day It really is so special!

Roight Mushy over now nback to the crafting.  I thought I would share this card today as It has a softer feel but shows what other things can be achieved with the Winter Stamps from the new range .

This card started out as an accident, it happens to all of us I know, as i accidentally smudged one of the trees.  I stamped the tree from the winter trees set in the tea izink dye ink pad onto pearl acrd.  I moved the card along 5am and stamped it again and repeated this once more to get three tress.  I then used the mint and ocean inks and randomly stamped the leaves in the set over the trees. It was at this stage that I smudged one of the trees ( as the ink takes longer to dry on pearl card)

This gave me the smoky / misty look as seen on the trees.  I repeated the process but didn't smudge the next one and I simply cut this out and mounted it in a gold circle ( using the CE pierced circles dies)

I mounted the crisp tree at one edge of the misty strip and added a border of more gold before making up the card as sown with the Happy Birthday stamped repeatedly across the bottom.

Again something different to do with the Joh  Next Door range!

I have had loads of emails asking where the stamp press is available form as well as the rest of the range. There are lots of retailers who are stocking these there is a link to a couple on the sidebar.

I will be demonstrating the new John Next Door range at Inspirations in Preston Tomorrow and Friday as well as my selection form the Creative Expressions Christmas die range so pop in and see in person how to use the system and products!

John Next Door range TV Launch...

Happy Tuesday,

I can't believe the TV launch of my new Brand and range has come round already It has, as I'm sure you can all imagine, taken a lot of time, drawing and planning to get to this stage especially as I am back on Hochanda on August 8th with more ideas!

Today I thought I would share a selection of the cards I will be demonstrating techniques from across the two hours today ( 10am and 2pm) The shows are really technique based and I thought it would be good to show as many different things you can do with the Media Plates, Masks and Stamps!

There are so many different things you can do with the range from building your own tree for any season as in this simple card  to building complex looking backgrounds and art style projects in amateur of a couple of minutes ( as in the card above with the blues and reds.

I really hope my Blog family can tune in remember there is catch up and online ( just don't get caught at work watching! )

Show times are 10am and 2pm (UK time) on the following platforms

New Mask technique...

Happy Monday,

The feedback from the launch of my John Next Door brand has been so positive I would like to thank my Blog family for the support and (vital) feedback!  I am sharing a card today made with a combination of the Autumn flowers stamps and the Argyle stencil / mask.  I will be demonstrating this technique on Hochanda tomorrow at either 10am or 2pm but there is also a You tube video awaiting upload for this one as well.

This is a simple technique however it does relay on having a stamp press to make it work as the stamp and paper both need to stay in the same place for a few different layers of the stamping!

I stared by using my Duo mask Argyle on a piece of white card and shaded through this using a warm red and a honey die based Izink ink pad and blaending tool.  Next add the stamps one the top with the mask still in place, ink up the stamp with black ink and stamp.
I then open the press and add in a scrap of paper and stamp the image again onto the new piece if card.  this gives the shaded stamped image as seen on this card which is made form the piece form the main card ( hope this makes sense I have a video on this technique and will demo this on Hochanda tomorrow at 10am)

Finally I ink the stamp, after removing the spare piece, in red and stamp this onto the main piece.  This gives the shaded look to the stamped image above with different areas being in either black or the red.

I made this up into the card as shown adding a layer of brown and a matching ribbon.

All the products used for this card and technique will be available on the Brand launch tomorrow at 10am on Hochanda ( freeview 85, sky 663 and online)

Media Plates...

Happy Sunday,

Firstly I would like to thank all my wonderful Blog family for the fantastic comments and reception of my new brand!  Its been truly overwhelming  If you have emailed me I will reply however I am struggling through them all at the moment I will get to you as soon as I can promise!

I thought I should start sharing some of the techniques that are possible with my new Media Plates and stamps so I thought I woulds share this Christmas card that looks complex but is really simple to produce!  The technique used is with the oval media plate and the resist technique ( there is a you tube video for this however I am waiting for it to upload!)

I stared by adding the inks to the media plate in the press to impress stamp tool.  I then went over this with a brayer to soften the colours ( all of this is explained in the youtube video for basic techniques available HERE  ) Next I used the snowflake stamp from the Winter Trees set and inked it with perfect medium then I stamped this first onto the media plate to remove the ink and secondly onto the card to stamp the coloured snowflakes.  Using this technique i removed the ink form the plate and was able to stamp multicoloured snowflakes around the card.

I then stamped the media plate onto the card ( by closing the lid of the press to impress) I added the tree stamp onto the lid and stamped this followed by the pot.

Finally I added more of the snowflakes and the sentiment.  A mat of blue card and just add this to an 8x8" card blank and finished.

A card that looks like it takes hours of shading, an oval reverse snowflake stamp and lots of hard work.  However with the stamp press and the media plate it takes 5 minutes!

Dont forget if you want a sneak peak of the orange before Tuesday's Hochanda shows then I will be at Crafting Live in Doncaster all day!

The countdown is over!...

Happy Saturday,

I really hope you have all enjoyed the countdown and all the rumours I have to say I have!  The day is here so it's time to share my new Direction.  As of Today I am launching my own brand and ranges under the title of John Next Door!  The range is in collaboration with Crafts Too which is a fantastic Family Owned Craft brand and Distributor.  Their range covers all areas of the Craft world from Dies and stamps to Tools paper and everything any crafter ( like me) would drool over.

The Brand - The John Next Door brand is designed by me and will encompass all areas of the crafting world in fact the tag line is For The Makers.  I know that a lot of my Blog Family, like me, move between crafts and love trying something new.  This moves us from being paper crafters to more of makers with fabric, home decor baking and all aspects of the hand made world being things we love and do.  Therefore the brand will have new ranges every month based on existing and new areas of Craft.

There is no schedule of new stamps every month or set ranges I have taken a far more eclectic look at the range and it will change based on techniques and projects I am loving!  The First release is below with the launch of the New Media Plates, stamps and stencils / masks.  We have been working very hard to create a new system that is easy to use with new techniques that is easy ( just my cup of tea!)

The first range will launch on Hochanda TV on Tuesday 18th July ( next Tuesday) at 10am with a further show at 2pm I do hope you can tune in to see the launch and hopefully learn some new ideas and techniques designed to take our skill levels somewhere new!

Some of the range will be available on the Art of Craft stand today and tomorrow at Crafting Live in Doncaster so those going will be able to see the range in use first.  failing that the Full range will launch on Tuesday on Hochanda!

Over the next few months I have Embossing folders, fabric crafts with Stencils, Dies, stamps and so much more ready to go!  We have also been working with a company in France to deliver a fantastic range of Inks, paints, pastes and other products which have amazing attributes and are fantastic value ( always important to me)

I hope you will all enjoy this new direction for my Crafting Journey and love the John Next Door brand as much as I do!  To get you stared here is the first New youtube video featuring how to use the Media Plates that everyone has been asking about!

Over the next few days I will post sample pictures ( and there are youtube videos showing the techniques) However there are a few above and Mrs Duck has been playing with the stamps and is showing some ion her Blog click HERE to see what she has come up with!

More Drama...

Happy Friday,

Well with one day to go there are an awful lots of rumours going round about what my Sam Jelly baby is talking about. From what I've seen on Facebook the cat is out of the bag about some of it but not everything! lol

I thought today I would post a dramatic card ( well that's how it appeared to me) as if there isn't enough drama about!  I stared by making the outer frame from the press cut woodland scene ( really a true favourite) into a square the great thing is the die cuts in the centre and just slots together to make the square.

Next I used the scene section of the die cut in black gloss card and used the Fire and Ice technique with gilding flakes on the back and iced snow on the front to add a little more glam to the card.  I added this to a larger set of black white and silver mats and layers to make the piece more dramatic.

The flowers are the orange blossom flowers and leaves cut form embossed and glitter kissed paper.  I added more of the gold glitter kiss to the flowers and leaves after shaping them.  I added 5mm stick on pearls in the centres of the flowers and added more of the pearls in the corners for balance.

I love the finished look of this card especially as whilst making it I thought id gone too far in mixing the colours and shine!

Here's Sam for the final day and a little more of a reveal!

have you guessed what it is yet?

More Finds...

Happy Thursday,

Today's card is made with the same find it die as Tuesday however this time I have used the die to make a inverted card where the design works into the card.  I stared by cutting a square of gold stardust card.  I the  cut the largest die in the set along with the other shoe die into this.  I added velum in the centre and the cut the detail die which I added over the velum so that cut appears floating with the lilac softer in the background.

Next I cut the centre out using the inner die and added  stamped panel of the lilac behind.  To accent the design I added some pearl corners.  I added mats of the lilac and gold dust and then a panel of embossed card (using the twinkle stars A4 embossing folder)

Finally I added the messy bow of silk white a thin lilac ribbon and a craft consortium metal heart charm.

Here's Sam the jelly baby to count down again.  Thought I would share a little clue today the C in his tummy is a copyright symbol!!!

New Find...

Happy Tuesday,

Today I am sharing a card made with a new range of dies I have found form Find It Media (from Holland)  I saw these dies at the Newbury craft show on Saturday and I had to add a few to my basket!

Today I have made this buckle style card using the Round Flower Frame however I only used a couple of dies in the set so there are more cards coming with this die!.

I cut the 2 outline dies three times in teal card then added the central section cut in ivory.  I arranged these in a buckle formation over a piece of embossed ivory card ( embossed with the Twinkle Stars embossing folder)  I shaded the edges with a new Ocean coloured die ink ( more news of that to follow later in the week!)

I threaded a lace ribbon through the buckles and added a spray of leaves shaded in the same ink.

I stamped the sentiment ( again with the ocean ink) onto the piece that falls from the centre punching a hole to make this into a tag.

A few layers of teal and ivory and a classic card is completed.

It seems that everyone really liked my Jelly baby ( I've named him sam) so I thought i'd share another image below!

it looks like he's counting down to something doesn't it?!? x

Alternate Wedding...

Happy Monday,

I thought I would share one of the alternate wedding cards I made for the Wedding I went to at the weekend!  This i thought was too busy and not in the correct colour so I went with yesterdays but every card and project deserves it';s day in the sun ( or on the blog in my world lol)

I used pieces left form recent workshops for the background and frames using pixie powdered watercolour paper with Pewter, Midnight blue and Rich gold powders to make this which was used for the flowers, frame and background as well as the sentiment.

The central panel is using the new white glitter kiss through a mask ( a random one from my box sorry) onto acetate and used this in the frame.  I then added die cuts in silver and white using the spellbinders elegant ovals with a Creative Expressions sentiment die in the centre.  The flowers are the orange blossom topping seam binding made coloured with the pixie powders.

A complex looking card however hopefully harmonious and great for many occasions if not for a wedding!
