A Mixed Bag...

 Happy Monday,

Toady card is a little of a mixed bag using different papers and techniques to make the whole.

I started by embossing a piece of parchment by hand using a die cut from Spellbinders holly accents die set under the parchment which I simply ran a ball tool over to give the pattern.
I then simply set that within a frame made using the Sue Wilson filigree bow die set from which i used the ribbon strip.  I cut this in silver metallic card and mounted the strips onto a frame in a bright gold card.

Finally I added a bow made form the whole set and a simple banner sentiment.

Ingredients:
Spellbinders Holly Accents
Sue Wilson Filigree Bow
Crafters Companion sentiment stamp

Enjoy...

  1. Eh up John
Another "hmmm" for me sorry. I think its a clever technique for the background and the frame is nice but its just not for me today, I'm afraid.
    Have a great day.

  2. Hmmm-not too sure about this. Love the border + bow-maybe they need to be a darker colour to show off the embossing on the parchment.

  3. Sorry, but just too dull, the sentiment is not echoed in the colour.
Hope you are not missing Spanish sun and colours already.

  4. Morning John,
Sorry, but I'm in the negative camp as well, it just does seem to blend together. I do like the border with the bow.

  5. Good morning John, some nice ideas but overall it doesn't seem to work for me though I'm not a fan of card/paper bows and I think it is the "ribbon strip " that puts me off this one, still can't please everyone. I do like the borders and the way you have used the die with the parchment though, best wishes Jackie.

  6. Morning John, I've not worked with parchment yet, though I do have some to try one of these days.

What's more, I have that bow set, so I'd be good to go, even if I have to sub. something else in the middle.

  10. Hi John. I love all of it except the sentiment banner, sorry it doesn't seem to work with the rest of the card to me. I love your parchment work and the silver metallic card. Have a good day. Take care.

  11. Not sure on this one. I do parchment craft and maybe using the die doesn't work or maybe using some perga markers to add colour might have helped. I love the frame and love your originality, hugs Theresa (TOB)

  13. Love the effect of the gold and silver together. It looks like beaten gold.
I think I must be looking at a diffferent card 'cos i think it's lovely. Maybe the sentiment doesn't match the masculinity of it but apart from that it's great.

  14. The card is lovely (& I'm sure the gold stands out better in real life than on screen). The only thing I would change is to emboss the sentiment in gold EP. And what a wonderful idea to use the dies on parchment. Maybe the addition of some coloured flowers at the bow?

  17. Hi John,
will try again as my last comment went out into cyberspace.
Now can I remember what I said.
I really like this card today.
Your hand embossing of the parchment is great.
Love the super gold pattern card used.
I think peeps are too quick when they are visiting and commenting, I know we all have a lot of blogs to visit, but I think personally peeps should make time for
    exceptional cards, such as yours.
